Meet the Photographer
Hi, I'm Mirlen Hernandez the dreamer, creator, and storyteller behind Aperture Artistry.
I’m a portrait and lifestyle photographer based in Newport and Lexington, Kentucky, serving clients across Cincinnati, Ohio and beyond.
From a young age, I’ve been captivated by the art of storytelling. That passion led me to study Theatre and Communications at Morehead State University, where I learned how light, movement, and emotion can come together to tell something truly human. That same creative spirit guides me every time I lift my camera.
Photography, for me, isn’t just about freezing a moment . it’s about honoring the emotion within it. It’s about seeing someone’s story, their beauty, their spark, and translating that into something they can hold forever.
I come from humble beginnings a first-generation Mexican-American graduate who grew up dreaming beyond what I could see. Those roots taught me resilience, gratitude, and the deep belief that art exists everywhere, even in the smallest details of our everyday lives. That’s why I’m drawn to concept shoots, concerts, and creative portraits that allow me to merge imagination and authenticity.
With experience in set design, lighting, costume creation, and makeup, I love crafting entire worlds through my lens. Worlds where my clients can see themselves as art. My dream is to one day travel and capture stories across the globe, but for now, I pour that same spirit of adventure and connection into every session I create here at home.
Through my camera, I hope to give you more than just photos. I hope to give you a reflection of your own light, your own story, your own art.
